Build a world
Documentation in progress
Menyr moves fast and this documentation follows. If something differs from what you see in game, trust the game and let us know on Discord.
In Menyr you don't model every hill by hand: you drop shapes, run a computation, then refine.
The path
- Create a universe, the container for your world
- Create a board: Open World for an exterior, Dungeon for an interior
- On an Open World, shape the terrain with the Sand Castle
- Dress it up with biomes
- Place assets and build with the architecture kit
- Share or reuse your builds
Build and play without switching tools
Menyr has no separate editor. You build in the world, switch to play mode, then go back to building, all within the same session, by clicking the Menyr logo in the top left of the HUD.
In practice, you can adjust the scenery while your players are connected.
Three things worth knowing
The board type is permanent. Open World or Dungeon is set at creation and never changes. A universe freely mixes both.
The bake is fast. Computing the terrain takes 2 to 3 minutes depending on your CPU, so experimenting is cheap.
Sculpting is for finishing touches. It's demanding and inflates your save files. For a major relief change, go back to your landforms and run another bake.
Your creations are preserved. Since version 0.6 we do our best to keep things compatible. Snippets are guaranteed compatible through 1.0.
