Your first session

The full path, from installation to the first dice roll.

1. Install and sign in

Download Menyr from its Steam page and request playtest access: approval is instant.

Create your account on menyr.nogstudio.com, then sign in with your user ID (not your email).

Details: Installation and account.

2. Create a universe

A universe is the container for your world. It will hold all your boards.

Create it, then load it: you arrive in the Lobby.

3. Create a board

From the Lobby, create your first board and pick its type:

TypeForArea
Open WorldAn exterior: region, forest, plain, village100 km²
DungeonAn interior: dungeon, cave, building1 km² playable and buildable

This choice is permanent

The type is set at creation and cannot be changed afterwards. When in doubt, create a new board instead: a universe freely mixes both.

4. Build

If you picked Open World, your world is empty: you need to create the terrain first.

  1. Open the Sand Castle and drag landforms from the left-hand panel to shape the relief
  2. Run the bake. Allow 2 to 3 minutes depending on your CPU
  3. If you want, refine with sculpting and biome painting
  4. Place your assets from the toolbox

If you picked Dungeon, there is no terrain: you build directly with the architecture kit.

Details: Universes and boards and The Sand Castle.

5. Prepare interactive objects

Before playing, configure the objects your players will handle: select them and press C to enable Grabbable or Interactible.

These options can only be set in build mode. See Handling objects in play mode.

6. Invite your players

Invitations go through Steam. Up to 16 players, hosted by your PC.

Details: Inviting your players.

7. Play

Switch to play mode by clicking the Menyr logo in the top left of the HUD. You can go back to build mode at any time without leaving the session.

In game, right click toggles between camera control and HUD display.

Place your tokens, roll the dice, play. Bring paper character sheets: Menyr does not handle rules yet.
